Dhabas in Rohtak

The roadside eateries which are generally located on the highways and serve up the local cuisines are known as the “Dhabas”. These dhabas remain open throughout day and night. The major customers of a dhaba are taxi and truck drivers. The word “Dhaba” signifies an eatery which offers Punjabi cuisines. The reason is majority of truck drivers in India are Punjabis and hence a typical dhaba consists of spicy and rich Punjabi food. Due to similar crop pattern and proximity both Punjab and Haryana have similar food habits.

The dhaba food is quite affordable and fits the pockets of the truck drivers as well as the common mass. Nowadays, the look of dhaba has changed with the time. Earlier there were chaarpais which have now been replaced by tables and benches or chairs. Dhaba food is not only preferred by the drivers but it also attracts the long distance road travelers. The dhaba food has a taste which is equivalent to the homemade food. Therefore, the natural, tasty and healthy dhaba food attracts every individual at least once in a while for a change.
